GO BACK IN OSCAR HISTORY!

Welcome to my Oscar History Page!

We have The 98th Academy Awards ceremony this Sunday March 15, 2026 on ABC. It will be presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This page is where you will find everything Oscar related…

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will take place on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, United States. During the gala, the AMPAS will present Academy Awards (commonly referred to as Oscars) in 24 categories, honoring films released in 2025. The ceremony will be televised in the United States by ABC and streamed on Hulu.[2] Comedian Conan O'Brien is set to host the show for the second consecutive time, after receiving acclaim for hosting the previous year, with Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan returning as executive producers for the third consecutive year, and Hamish Hamilton returning as director.[a] In related events, the Academy held its 16th Governors Awards ceremony at the Ray Dolby Ballroom of the Ovation Hollywood complex in Hollywood on November 16, 2025.[8] The Academy Scientific and Technical Awards will be presented on April 28, 2026, in a ceremony at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles.[9] This year, Best Casting will be presented as a categorial debut, bringing the total number of competitive Oscar categories to 24.

I SHOWED YOU MINE, NOW YOU SHOW ME…YOUR BALLOT…

This year we had 24 categories, with the addition of the Best Casting Category!

The 98th Oscars was the most open season the Academy has seen in years! The only race that was predictable was Jessie Buckley for Actress in a Leading Role, because she swept the award season on all award circuits!

But I base my predictions on other prediction statistical models along with past trends of the Academy voters, so my predictions are based on who WILL win, and not necessarily who SHOULD win. I missed three and a half categories, the half due to the TIE in the Best Animated Short category.

So I won some, I lost some, but that’s what makes it fun and exciting from my couch, and I’ve been doing this since I was a kid!

Congratulations to all the winners! And see you next year at the Oscars!

MY TOP TEN OSCAR MOMENTS…

With this year’s Academy Awards just days away, it’s time to relive some of my favorite Oscar moments from its 96 years! While there are so many moments to choose from, I picked the moments from the Oscar ceremonies over the years that live rent free in my head, these are the moments I best remember and often look back on and rewatch them. A lot of the moments remembered are from my younger years watching the Academy Awards, but that is how I know these are My Top Ten Oscar Moments, because I have remembered them all this time and never forget these Oscar Sunday memories!

Some Oscar Moments of the past that include: Burt Bacharach and several renowned musicians complete a medley of some of the Best Original Song nominees, Kim Basinger wins the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, Kathryn Bigelow wins the Oscar for Best Director, Cuba Gooding Jr. wins the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, Aaliyah performs at the Oscars shortly before her death in a plane crash, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon win the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, Envelopegate, where "La La Land" was mispronounced as the Best Picture winner, when it was in fact, "Moonlight," Leonardo Dicaprio finally wins an Oscar for Leading Actor after several nominations and many snubs, and the slap heard around the world, Will Smith slaps Chris Rock onstage at the Oscars over a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. A SLAPPED SOCIETY…

With the slap heard around the world, I have written a new blog post taking a deeper look at the past controversies of the Oscars. In particular, the incident that occurred at the 45th Academy Awards between John Wayne, Marlon Brando and Sacheen Littlefeather surrounding Brando’s refusal of his Oscar on behalf of Native Americans. Head over to my Blog Posts and have a read!

MR. SATURDAY NIGHT WORKED SUNDAY’S…

With the recent Bob Costas interview with Billy Crystal, and the incident at the 2022 Oscars, I’ve decided to take a look at the hosts in Oscar’s long history. More specifically. Billy Crystal. I will also discuss the past shows he hosted with some video memories. We will look at Billy’s first show in 1990 and presumably, his last show in 2012. I will look at the incident that may have cost him the hosting gig, if it wasn’t simply about a change of the guard and the younger, the better.
