Hello There from Batman Returns

About this Page:

Welcome to the MoviesToHistory.com About Page.

This platform is dedicated to delivering informed, analytical perspectives on the relationship between film and history through personal written introspection. Each post is designed to examine how cinematic storytelling intersects with real-world events, using both critical analysis and contextual research.

Content throughout the site may include embedded media — such as YouTube clips and other permitted sources — to support and enhance the written analysis. These elements are used intentionally to bridge the visual language of film with the historical narratives behind it.

You’ll find a range of critiques, recommendations, and reviews focused primarily on film, with select television content featured through curated blog pairings and personal viewing selections. Every piece contributes to a broader objective: understanding how stories told on screen connect to historical truth, interpretation, and legacy.

Across all posts, the goal remains consistent — to trace, question, and connect the threads between cinema and history in a way that is both cohesive and intellectually engaging.

My Movie History:

Me: Siobhan Marie Day
Me: Siobhan Marie Day

A little bit about me in detail, now that your on my About Page and My History! When I was 16, I started working at Blockbuster Video in Hamden, CT for my first job on record!

I knew I wanted to work in and be around movies for the rest of my life if I could.

They say if you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life. That was my goal. I loved every day I worked there. But my love affair with movies started when I was 7 years old. It was 1989. My parents took my sister and I to see the movie Batman.

My parents wanted to see it, and it was PG-13, a big deal when your 7, my parents were big Jack Nicholson fans, but who isn’t. I was already a huge fan of Beetlejuice. That movie also starred Michael Keaton and also had Tim Burton directing.

I remember watching Beetlejuice on VHS at home on our newly acquired VHS Player that was rented from the long gone Video Store in my local Stop and Shop, they replaced all of them with a local bank. They worked together again for this movie and I wanted to see it. I also remember being obsessed with Vicky Vale and Kim Basinger after seeing the movie!

Card Obsessed…

There were these Baseball Trading Cards! They were for the film as a promotion. You could buy them from my local corner store. Mine at the time was the WaWa‘s. I remember getting them until I got Vicky’s card. It payed off because there was a stick of gum inside every pack. I finally got her card! I had collected all of them and then some on a few characters after all that determination. You can see my passion for movies even then. That passion is what drove me at a young age to want to write movies when I grew up. I was often told to keep my day job, it was always common sense with what I was aspiring too.

My Dream History…

I had a couple of day jobs at different video stores, with a few others mixed in. One of those jobs was some time in the military after 9/11/2001. When I graduated High School in June 2001 my plans changed drastically on a beautiful September day eleven days in and four months after graduating. It was with the hope of pursuing a screenwriter’s degree from SUNY at Purchase, but I held off those plans and made one I felt was more important at the time. The events of that day changed my trajectory in life and I went to College after my time served in the military.

When I found my passion for History in Middle School, I had a back up plan. I found that I rather enjoyed more than most kids in my class, learning about the past and studying History. What I learned was, that in order to know where we are going, we must first know where we have been. I used this philosophy in most things I studied throughout History. For if we do not learn from our past, we are doomed to repeat it.

Always Have a Back Up Drive…

When I decided it was going to be my minor in school. I had a another plan. It made for the other path I would take with my life if being a screenwriter didn’t work out. I was always sensible about my dreams. I’m still pursuing that dream of selling a screenplay to this day. I met someone in the military. We then got married, and had a son, which was followed by a divorce. This was all in the trajectory of life changes I discussed. Life happened. Things took longer than expected, but with good reason.

I Still don’t think dreams are a bad thing to have. They never really die if they mean that much to you. They give you purpose and drive in life.

My Current History…

I finally had written a few screenplays by 2018. My proudest one of them is a Feature Length Political Thriller. It’s titled “Algorithm” and it is based on the ‘Circus‘ that has now become American Politics and considers the idea of Technology used the wrong way as a means of threat to our future domestically. I was able to write so much of my screenplay in real time, and have it mirror current events. Thank You, Washington D.C.

I still hope that some day, there will be a request for the right person to read it. And I hope my movie is the one they want made in Hollywood!

Dream On…

Until then, a girl can dream. For now, I write because it is a deeper passion I have. I do it blogging about my other two happy passions in life. History and Movies. Therefore, the work I post comes from the heartiest parts of my historian cinephile soul. Take that along with years of committed study to learning about the world around me, while also learning how to express that through the lens of Filmmaking. I hope I can share some of that passion with you guys! And I hope I help you discover some new movies and history along the way!
