The Night was Atomic…
Oppenheimer was atomic on Saturday night when it went nuclear with the big award of the night at the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards, winning Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film also took home two acting awards for leading actor Cillian Murphy and supporting actor Robert Downey Jr. and lead actress was historically awarded to Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, she became the first indigenous actor to win Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, and supporting actress went to The Holdovers supporting actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
While the big television award of the night went home with billionaires and the cast of Succession which took home the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, and the hunger was evident for the comedy side of awards with the FX series The Bear taking home Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, as well as the comedy actor awards for Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White. For limited series the actor awards went to Steven Yeun, and Ali Wong for the Netflix series Beef.
Pedro Pascal pulled off a surprise win to even himself, beating out all three actors from Succession, including Kieran Culkin, when he won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for The Last of Us, Elizabeth Debicki was also surprised when she won Outstanding Perforce by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role as Diana, Princess of Wales on The Crown.
Awards are voted on by members of SAG-AFTRA in categories across both film and television, including stunt performances. The winners of the stunt ensemble categories were announced during the red carpet preshow, and those awards were awarded to The Last of Us and Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One.
This year the ceremony was held at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, and was streamed live on Netflix.
