Stars talk ‘Feud: Capote vs The Swans’
ABC News’ Nightline interviews Calista Flockhart, Demi Moore, Tom Hollander, Diane Lane, Naomi Watts, Chloë Sevigny, and Molly Ringwald, the stars of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, the new FX Networks second season of the Ryan Murphy anthology Feud as they discuss playing Truman Capote and the New York City socialites that he referred to as his “Swans”, as well as the famed writer Capote and his legacy.
The interview discusses Capote’s legacy for writing Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which would later be made into the 1961 Audrey Hepburn film of the same name, as well as his most famous work, In Cold Blood, the 1966 non-fiction novel that details the 1959 murders of four members of the Clutter family in the small farming community of Holcomb, Kansas that skyrocketed Capote to international fame as a writer.
The interview also touches briefly on how this is not the first time Capote’s life has been depicted on screen, mentioning the Academy Award for Best Actor the late Philip Seymour Hoffman recieved for portraying Truman Capote in the 2005 film, Capote, which follows the events during his writing of In Cold Blood, which included meeting the murders before they were sentenced to death. As well as the 2006 film, Infamous, where Toby Jones portrayed Capote this time, and also deals with Capote’s reasearch and writing of In Cold Blood.
