And the nominees are...

A interrupted season…

The 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards nominatons were announced on January 8, 2025, but the awards season has been interrupted by the devastating wildfires that have started in the heart of Los Angeles and Hollywood. The announcement was to be presented by Joey King and Cooper Koch Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 7:30 AM PT/10:30 ET and streamed live on YouTube and Netflix, but out of abundance of caution for the saftey of the presenters, guests and staff the live in-person nominations announcement was cancelled due to the wildfires and adverse wind conditions in Los Angeles. The nominees were instead unveiled in a press release and via the SAG Awards website.

The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, honoring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2024, will be presented on February 23, 2025, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Actress Kristen Bell will host the ceremony for the second time since the 24th ceremony.

A spell was cast over this year’s nominations because Wicked leads the film nominations with five, followed by A Complete Unknown with four, and Emilia Pérez and Anora with three nominations each. All four of the films are also nominated for the SAG Awards‘ top award Cast in a Motion Picture, along with Conclave, which scored two nominations, as did The Last Showgirl.

Golden Globe winners Demi Moore for The Substance and Adrien Brody for The Brutalist landed best actress and actor nods, while Golden Globe best supporting actor winner Kieran Culkin was also nominated for a SAG Award for his work in A Real Pain.

On the television side, Shōgun leads this year’s SAG Awards nominees with five, followed by The Bear with four and The Diplomat with three nominations. Both Shogun and The Diplomat are up for Best Ensemble In A Drama Series, alongside Bridgerton, Day of the Jackal and Slow Horses. The Bear is nominated for Best Ensemble In A Comedy Series alongside Abbott Elementary, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building and Shrinking. And SAG Awards host Kristen Bell is nominated for Best Actress In A Comedy Series for Nobody Wants This.
