CRITICAL CHOICES…

The Critics’ Choice Awards announced their film nominations for 2024 last Wednesday, and like most of the nominations coming out this award season, the color pink is all the rage with the frontrunner Barbie! It led Wednesday’s nominations with 18 total nominations, Oppenheimer and Poor Things tied with 13 nominations, followed by Killers of the Flower Moon, which earned 12 nominations from the Critics’ Choice Awards, with Martin Scorsese also earning a Best Director Nomination.

CRITICAL CELEBRATION…

As they have done in the past two years, the film and television nominations were announced separately. The television nominations were made on December 5, 2023, and with the film nominations now announced on December 13, 2023, the full nomination list for 2024 is complete. In the television nominations, the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show led the nominations with six nominations, and the sixth and final season of HBO|Max series Succession followed with five nominations. However, the film nomination announcment also corrected an error in the TV nominations from last week on Wednesday, announcing that Carla Gugino was also nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her role in The Fall of the House of Usher. The 29th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards will be presented on January 14, 2024, at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California, and will be honoring the finest achievements in both films and television for 2023. The ceremony will be hosted by Chelsea Handler and be broadcast on The CW, This will mark Handler‘s second consecutive year hosting the ceremony.
